  1. wonderful… this clearly talks about the unfair objective of the current education structure and the wrongly perceived passion of children / parents. Yes, it is violence against children.. and yes, there is a life other than this education… Not many in the field of education has the coruage to talk the truth, that too in such a straight forward manner and bring into light the unfariness of the whole system. I am impressed with the way it has been written and how so powerfully the message has come across….
I also feel that the education system misses out on the important factors like understanding emotions, handling life in a balanced way, healthy life style etc., mere facts and historical data alone does not serve anymore…. I also have many more questions… what should an ideal education system comprise of?
Dear Mr. Karuna, it would be lovely to hear from u – the right practices for health education that serves children and the society at large!! May be another article???

  3. Sir waiting for another post…enaku sujathavin ealuthai migavum rasippavan puthagathai eduthal kile vaikamudiyadu… Adupolave ungal ‘post’ugalum yadartha sol nadayil arpudamaga irukiradu ungal ealuthai puthagamai parka aasaipadugiren

  4. Even people working in education department are saying that schools in our town are not up to the mark. Its true that teachers are admitting their children in those western schools(misnomer). First teachers should admit their children in the school where they are working.

  6. Dear Mr. Karuna, The pressure for getting the those govt. quota seats in medical/engineering makes these parents so worried and they look for these STEROID schools for the entry ticket. Only, if the medical seats are increased proportionately high enough these menace can be curtailed. Otherwise, the parents will not hear your true & correct views. The children’s situation has become so pitiable……. what to do????????? Only you people who run good engineering colleges can help to some extent within your feasibility limits without compromising the salary of professors & cost of running the engineering colleges.
You views are very clear & articulate………Please write more frequently

  8. Dear Sir,
I live in Hong Kong for the last 18 years. I am 54 years old. When I did my old PUC in 1974 there were only few govt engineering colleges and medical colleges. Due to reserevation for BC and others it was very difficult for r FC to get an entry into these institutions. My father though was a Govt servant (PWD enigneer) he never forced us to study engineering or medicine. He said do what ever yo want to do. You need to have a degree and latter you can choose what you want to be.
I did my BSC Chemistry and after working for two years as Medical Rep I did decided to change my career to Accountancy. I successfully completed my CA and ICWAI. And latter after coming here I finished CIMA of UK. I have had a fairly successful career due to my parent’s blessings.
When my son joined BBA in HKG back home the question in relatives mind was why he did not join engineering. The feel if he is not doing engineering or medicine the boy is a dumb. I told them he got engineering in University of Toronto as well in HKG apart form BBA in both the places. He chose to pursue BBA in HKG. It is his life and he has chosen and I just lend my support for his decision.
Here in the secondary level the main subject’s children study are English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship computer science. There are too more optional subjects like Mandarin or Arts. They don’t focus only on Engineering or medicine and their scope is wide open for doing anything at the under grad level. I don’t know why our education has such a narrower focus and what is the point in joining Infosys or Wipro after doing engineering in Chemical or Medicine or coming to do MBA?
The mind set of the people should change and unless it changes nothing can be done. Our Finance Minister latter will be sitting on Non-Recoverable Loan granted for education so that the institutions run by corrupt politicians get enriched.
    Prasad
